SMETHPORT — A Kane man entered a guilty plea Thursday in McKean County Court to allegations he had indecent contact with a teen.
Robert E. Hammond, 60, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated indecent assault without consent, a second-degree felony.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, between Jan. 21-22 in Kane, he put his finger in the vagina of a 17-year-old girl without her consent.
President Judge John Pavlock noted that Hammond will have to register as a sex offender for his lifetime.
However, Hammond has already been registering as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, as he was convicted of indecent assault in 1993, according to the Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law website.
He will be sentenced Sept. 7, and he will have to undergo an evaluation prior to his sentencing to determine if he is a sexually violent predator.
Hammond is free, having posted $50,000 bail.
