MILES FOR SMILES: Miles for Smiles, a 5K run/2-mile walk that raises funding for the McKean County Special Olympics and the Bradford Regional Medical Center Oncology Department, will happen this Sunday.
Both the 5K and 2-mile walk will begin at 9 a.m., then a Kids Fun Run will be held at 9:45 a.m. The 5K will start on Campus Drive and end at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s gymnasium, while the 2-mile walk will start and end on Campus Drive. The Fun Run will be in the grass by the gymnasium.
Organizers hope to raise $7,000.
The cost is $15 per participant, and commemorative footprints can be purchased for $5 each.

HERB & FIBERS: If foot travel isn’t your thing, the annual Herb and Fiber Arts Festival will also be held this weekend at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cook Forest State Park.
There, visitors will find vendors selling herbs, flowers and other plants, along with fiber crafts, spices and dried herbs, according to organizers.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
A soup luncheon will be served at noon on Saturday — with homemade soups served in handmade pottery bowls. And you get to keep the bowl.
The Sawmill Center can be found at 140 Theatre Lane in Cooksburg.
In fact, the center has several festivals planned between now and the end of the year, including a French & Indian War Encampment June 10-11, a Woodcarving Show and Competition July 15-16, a Quilt Show Aug. 19-20, a Chainsaw Carvers’ Round-Up Sept. 15-17, a Gingerbread Tour Nov. 3-5 and a Festival of Trees Dec. 1-3.
