SMETHPORT — An Eldred man will serve time in state prison for leaving the scene of an accident with his injured passenger still in the car last October.
On Thursday in McKean County Court, Todd Shayne Ladlee, 52, of Eldred, was sentenced to serve 15 to 30 months in state prison on charges relating to a crash at 11:31 p.m. Oct. 11 on Route 646 in Keating Township. According to court records, after crashing the car, Ladlee ran into a wooded area, telling his injured passenger “I cannot get a DUI.”
Also on Thursday, Levi T. Haberberger of Mount Jewett and Jacob J. Bailey, 21, of Kane, were each sentenced to 18 months of probation and 50 hours of community service. Each had pleaded guilty to charges of theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and a summary charge. On Jan. 2, Haberberger and Bailey took items belonging to Kane Area High School, including a duffle bag, two pairs of sneakers and various shop tools worth $1,425.90, and they caused $1,331.09 in damage to two windows and two Dell computer monitors, according to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade at the time of the guilty pleas.
James D.M. Porter, 26, of Bradford, was sentenced to 4 to 12 months in jail, with 23 ½ months probation, to be paroled only to a drug and alcohol inpatient program, on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and a summary charge.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer at the time of Porter’s plea, on March 10, Porter, who was under the influence of alcohol, tried to hurt Bradford City police officers Butch Bartlett and Seth Shepard; police had to deploy a Taser to arrest him. He will be sentenced May 25.
Nicholas McNeil, 22, of Bradford, was sentenced to 45 days to 23 ½ months incarceration for guilty pleas in two cases. He’s charged in one case with terroristic threats and in the second with criminal trespassing, simple assault and a summary charge. According to Shaffer, on Dec. 18, McNeil broke the entryway of 42 N. Kendall Ave. when he burst through while under the influence of alcohol, and he tried to hurt a woman. Then, on March 26, he threatened to shoot two people.
Holly Zawatski, 41, of Salamanca, N.Y., was sentenced to 4 to 18 months in jail, and to reimburse the McKean County Drug Task Force $200. On May 21, 2016, Zawatski delivered .09 grams of heroin and .06 grams of cocaine, and she used a telephone to organize the delivery, according to Shaffer.
Alicia A. Mealy, 35, of Bradford, was sentenced to 48 hours to four days in jail, and 12 months of probation on charges of retail theft. According to Assistant District Attorney Sean Barrett, on Nov. 7, Mealy took merchandise — six DVDs and two pairs of slippers — worth $54.03 from Main Street Outlet.
Yvette K. Natalie, 45, of Bradford, will serve two years probation on a charge of welfare fraud. On July 31, 2015, Natalie failed to disclose to employment, subsequently receiving $1,556 in government aid, according to Barrett.
Calvin L. Teeter III, 19, of Bradford, will serve 12 months of probation for harassment and a summary charge. On Feb. 15, Teeter, who was outside under the influence of alcohol, said that he wanted to kill Bradford City Police Officer Matt Gustin, Shade said.
Rodney Fritz, 40, Kane, will serve 12 months probation for criminal mischief and possession of a small amount of marijuana in Kane Borough on Christmas Eve.
Richard Young, 63, of Kane, will serve 60 days probation for a charge of harassment that took place in June 2015 in Kane.
Logan Martin, 27, of Harrisville, will serve five years in the intermediate punishment program for DUI, with the first 90 days on house arrest.
Tyler Grandy, 26, of Pittsburgh, was accepted into the fast track Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for a charge of DUI.
