SMETHPORT — Smethport Area High School students who were recognized Tuesday at the 37th annual Academic Awards Banquet received more than $43,000 in local scholarships.
“The students who are being honored tonight have exceptional talents in the arts, sciences, mathematics, humanities, athletics and leadership,” said Brian Lawson, guidance counselor for grades 7-12, who also acted as master of ceremonies. Speaking to the students, he continued, saying, “Tonight is a testimony to your hard work and dedication as students. Your accomplishments in the classroom, in athletics and the community have been outstanding.”
The awards and recognitions follow: Valedictorian: Katherine Treat; Salutatorian: Brittany Szarowicz.
