SMETHPORT — A criminal charge against a Smethport man was bound to McKean County Court Monday before District Judge William Todd.
Shawn M. Pire, 46, is charged with one count of failure to comply with registration requirements-provide accurate information, a first-degree felony, court records stated.
According to court records, he made a Facebook page that he did not register with state police, which is a violation of his registration as a sex offender. The page was allegedly listed under the name “Mike Pire.” Pire’s middle name is Michael.
Meanwhile, Pire has a second case that is still pending in McKean County Court related to allegations he had indecent contact with a 16-year-old girl, court records stated.
He had entered a guilty plea on Feb. 11 to charges of corruption of minors and indecent assault without consent, while charges of promoting prostitution of a minor and indecent assault by forcible compulsion were dismissed; however, he withdrew his guilty plea on March 2. The case is now slated to go to trial.
No trial date is listed on the online court docket. Court records indicate he was deemed a sexually violent predator in an evaluation completed before he withdrew his plea.
Pire is free, having posted 10 percent of $5,000 bail in the indecent assault case and $10,000 bail in the registration case, according to court records.
