A fire that damaged a home at 41 Abbott Road Monday morning remains under investigation.
No one was injured, said Capt. J.D. Tehle of the Bradford City Fire Department.
Regarding the cause, he explained that the fire remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal and Bradford City Fire Investigation team.
According to Tehle, the call for the fire came in at 6:27 a.m., and it was under control by 7:27 a.m.
It started in the basement, he said, explaining, “It extended up to the first floor, and there was heavy smoke damage throughout,” he said.
The house will still be liveable, he noted.
Tehle talked about the firefighters and equipment on scene.
“We responded with Tower 1, Squad 1, Engine 1 and two ambulances. Bradford Township was on scene with their RIT Team,” he said.
Tehle attributed the fact that the house did not sustain more damage to the skills of the firefighters on scene.
“The guys did a great job,” he said. “They kept it to the area of origin and kept the damage to a minimum. They were intelligently aggressive, and we’re thankful that there were no injuries.”
The home is owned by Naoma Hayden, who was not home at the time because the house is being renovated, Tehle said. He explained, “They just bought it and closed on it Friday.”
