SMETHPORT (EC) — “Bud” Carlson, an Army combat engineer in the Vietnam War, will speak at the Memorial Day program at 10 a.m. May 27 at the John Berg Memorial American Legion Post #976 in Crosby.
Post adjutant and Vietnam War veteran Jim Hauck will be in charge of the honor guard.
The activities will then move to the Crosby Crossroads Bridge, where Fran Doutt, a 20-year Navy veteran, will release a wreath into Potato Creek honoring naval personnel.
From there, the activities will move to Colegrove Cemetery, where a wreath will be placed at a veteran’s grave.
A wreath will also be placed at the memorial marker at the Crosby Baseball Field, which honors all veterans, past, present and future.
The program will conclude with a luncheon of soup and sandwiches at the Crosby Legion.
