LIMERICKS: Jim Miller from Rixford sent us some more limericks. We’re loving the creativity!
“I have a silly collection of them, with various towns in the area mentioned,” Jim said. “Here are a few that are printable.”
A farmer from outside Emporium
Goes just once a month to the store-ium.
He purchases vittles,
And sometimes he fiddles
With the band in the school auditorium.
A short-order cook hailed from Aiken;
And he was always busily makin’
Peculiar main dishes,
Some of which were delicious
Like ice cream with spinach and bacon.
“And my favorite”:
There once was a young man from DuBois.
Had a wife and some children — just TuBois.
Each boy had a dog,
Two goats and a hog.
And were daily told, “Clean up the PuBois.”
SALES: Garage sale season is here.
Is everyone getting ready for Bradford’s townwide garage sale days on May 27?
We know all of you have discovered some old belongings during your spring cleaning that no longer have purpose for you, but might for someone else. A garage or yard sale is a great way to find a new home for your old treasures.
Today is the last day to register to be included on the map, which can be done at the Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe on Main Street.
The event is slated for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day will include a “Junk in the Trunk” Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bradford Township Lions Club.
If you plan on spending the day buying rather than selling, perhaps you have some tips for your fellow garage-salers? Please share.
