LIMERICKS: Duke Center author Bill Robertson had a whole collection of limericks he wrote that he shared.
“When I started freelance writing years ago, my first success came in the horror genre,” Bill writes. “Here are a few ‘spooky’ limericks I think your readers will enjoy.”
There once was a vampire clerk
Who took the dayshift like a jerk
He opened the store
And was heard of no more
‘Cause that was the last time he worked
There once was a werewolf named Jim
Whose chance for survival was slim
On every full moon
He broke into a croon
That made us shoot bullets at him
There once was a teacher named Roger
Who was quite the nervous old codger
The detention hall brats
Filled his briefcase with bats
Now he’s the asylum’s worst lodger
There once was a vampire who sneezed
Each time he got down on his knees
The fang marks he made
Were of very low grade
And his victims all caught his disease
There once was a frisky old satyr
Who fondled the wife of Darth Vader
Now he’s got burns
Where his fingers once turned
And he sure is sorry he made her
STAR WARS: While we’re on the topic of Darth Vader, next week is the 40th anniversary of his debut on the silver screen.
On May 25, 1977, the very first Star Wars film was released. The film opened up viewers to a new universe — a world of possibilities — and kindled science fiction enthusiasm in mainstream audiences.
The next film in the series — “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” — is set for release this December.
