ELDRED –– Alyssa Shelander’s three-hitter shutout and some timely offense was all Otto-Eldred needed to take down Coudersport, 4-0, in Northern Allegheny softball action on Thursday.
Shelander struck out four and walked one.
“Alyssa Shelander pitched a vergy good game,” Otto-Eldred head coach Roger Veilleux said. “She was solid.”
Shelander was also backed up by strong outfield play, according to Veilleux, including two web-gem catches by rightfielder Harlee VanScoter –– one which saved runs and the second that ended the game.
“Our defense was solid again,” Veilleux said. “Our outfield played stellar. They had five putouts.
The Lady Terrors (7-6) got the scoring started in the second inning when Autumn Smith smacked an RBI-single. In the fifth, Kirsten Renninger and Haylee Frederick also batted in runs.
Maddi Smith and Anne Chambers combined in the circle for Coudersport, allowing five hits, striking out three and walking four.
The win is another in a streak for Otto-Eldred as the season is slowly winding down.
“We just played really well,” Veilleux said. “We’re really coming together as a team. This is five out of six games that we’ve won. We’re gelling at the right time.”
The Lady Terrors return to action Saturday at Northern Potter.
