COUDERSPORT — With the arrival of spring, many members of the community are volunteering their time to pick up litter along roadways and hiking trails.
The district attorney’s office and the Potter County Law Enforcement Association want to remind the public to be cautious.
Drug abusers can deposit along roadways and trails used and unused needles, waste used in the production of methamphetamine, and empty baggies of heroin.
It is highly recommended that volunteers wear heavy, poke-resistant gloves.
Additionally, if anyone who is picking up litter sees any items that are possibly related to drug activity or paraphernalia, the items should not be touched and local law enforcement should be contacted immediately at 911.
