RIDGWAY — A state police fire marshal and local fire officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a home at 1454 California Road in Horton Township on Tuesday.
Cpl. Greg Agosti, a state police fire marshal, reported the fire broke out at 8:30 p.m. in a two-story home belonging to Shawn A. and Monique M. Schaeffer of Ridgway. Two children also live with the pair.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries, Agosti said, noting that damage to the structure is estimated at $250,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by state police and the Horton Township Fire Department, and anyone with information is asked to contact the fire marshal at 776-6136. Agosti did not say if he believed the fire was accidental or not.
Also assisting on scene were the Ridgway and Fox Township fire departments, as well as Brockway Ambulance.
