CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin repair work April 26 on a bridge along Route 4011 (Sullivan Road) in Bradford Township.
The bridge is currently weight limit posted at 33 ton for single vehicles and 40 ton for combination vehicles. Repairing the bridge will allow PennDOT to maintain the current weight postings.
An official detour will be in place for the duration of the project, from April 26 through May 10. Detour signing will direct drivers to use Route 4009 (Interstate Parkway). PennDOT will re-open the bridge and roadway before the May 10 completion date if work progress allows.
The current 31-foot bridge was originally built in 1940 and carries an average of 500 vehicles daily. The bridge spans Bennett Brook just south of the Route 4011 (Sullivan Road) and Royal Avenue intersection in Bradford Township.
Crews from PennDOT McKean County maintenance will perform the work, which will focus on beam repairs.
