COUDERSPORT — A Mansfield man is facing allegations that he drove to a Sharon Township home while under the influence of alcohol, then refused to leave.
According to Coudersport-based state police, at 6 a.m. April 12, Newell Milton Vandergrift, 61, of Mansfield, was reported to be trespassing. He allegedly entered the home through the front door and wouldn’t leave; he was still there when police arrived.
Police identified the victims as a 57-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, both of Shinglehouse.
Vandergrift is charged with criminal trespassing, a third-degree felony; criminal trespassing, a third-degree misdemeanor; driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor; and criminal trespassing, a summary charge, police stated.
He was released, having paid 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
An online court docket indicates that a preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 19, but it does not indicate whether the hearing took place.
