PUNXSUTAWNEY — Investigators were not able to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn at 77 Sunny Lane, Marshburg, on April 1.
The barn was owned by Paul D. Morrisroe and Beth Ann Esch.
Trooper David Powell, a state police fire marshal, explained there was too much damage in the barn to be able to determine the cause. He indicated the investigation has closed.
No people were injured in the blaze, but several animals died and tractors and other equipment were destroyed. Firefighters from Lafayette, Bradford and Corydon townships and Lewis Run Borough were called to battle the blaze.
Morrisroe is incarcerated in state prison, where he is serving a sentence for his conviction in a crash that killed motorcyclist Dakota Heinaman of Cyclone. Officials say that a pick-up truck driven by Morrisroe while he was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana struck Heinaman’s motorcycle, and then leaving the scene.
