Kirk Johnson makes many common sense points concerning motorized mountain bikes in his recent letter to Other Voices. I agree they should not be allowed on any designated non-motorized trails in the Allegheny.
The Forest Service revised its map of the Allegheny National Forest in 2014. They are available for purchase at all ANF offices. The map depicts hundreds of forestry roads available to mountain bikers.
In addition there are hundreds more oil and gas lease roads available, which are not on the map.
As a mountain biker, my point is to ask: How much is enough? With all the roads listed above, do we still need to ride on hiking trails? Why?
