KANE — Two Bradford men is in McKean County Jail on allegations they broke into the Farm Family Restaurant on multiple occasions.
Michael Aaron Payne, 26, of 801 E. Main St., first broke into the restaurant — which has been closed for some time and is up for sale — on April 4, then returned each night through Sunday, and Jordan Michael Reams, 19, of the same address, joined Payne on Saturday and Sunday nights, court records stated.
According to court records, police learned the pair was planning on breaking into the restaurant, so Bradford City and Bradford Township officers located them walking on Limestone Street; Reams was carrying a record player, and Payne was carrying a box of light bulbs. Reams allegedly told them the items came from a friend but was unable to say who.
They complied to a request to get into the police cars and go to the Bradford City Police Station.
During a police interview, Payne allegedly said that on April 4, he entered by going through a crawl space, then hammered his way through the drywall. He took soda on April 4 and Wednesday; sugar, foam cups, plastic silverware and tea on Thursday, soda and an orange extension cord on Friday, knives on Saturday and a box of lightbulbs on Sunday, court records stated.
Meanwhile, Reams allegedly told police he took a radio speaker on Saturday and a record player on Sunday, court records indicated.
Payne is charged with six counts each of burglary and criminal trespassing and two counts each of conspiracy to commit trespassing and conspiracy to commit burglary, all second-degree felonies; six counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking and one count of criminal mischief, all third-degree misdemeanors, court records stated.
Court records indicate that Reams is charged with two counts each of burglary and conspiracy to to commit burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit criminal trespassing, all second-degree felonies; and two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking, all third-degree misdemeanors.
Both men were arraigned before District Judge David Engman and committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000, and they have Central Court appearances scheduled for April 20.
