KANE — More details are available regarding an assault by vehicle that allegedly occurred Saturday in Liberty Township while the suspect was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Eric Richard Culver, 32, of 3771 Route 155, Port Allegany, was arraigned over the weekend on charges related to the allegations and committed to McKean County Jail on $20,000 bail, court records stated.
According to court records, a state trooper was called out around 9:40 p.m. to investigate a report that a male was crawling along the road on Route 155, north of Port Allegany Borough. At the scene, the caller told the officer he was driving down Route 155, when he was flagged down by Eric Tampuu, who was lying alongside the road.
Tampuu told the man that his leg was hit by a car; then, a car driven by Culver returned to the scene, picked up Tampuu, and left. A short time later, Culver drove back through and told the man who called in the incident that he took Tampuu to his house, court records stated.
Police went to talk to Tampuu, who told police that Culver allegedly pushed him out of the vehicle after they got into an argument, then Culver struck him with the passenger side of the car, running over him. Tampuu complained of pain in his right leg, pelvis, ankle and tailbone. Tampuu was transported by ambulance for treatment of his injuries, according to court records.
Court records indicate that Culver was under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs at the time of the alleged incident.
He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
