SMETHPORT — The Smethport boys track and field team improved to 4-0 on the young season by topping both Eisenhower and DuBois CC on a rainy Thursday afternoon.
The Hubbers topped Eisenhower, 93-56, and DuBois CC, 85-64.
Christian Tanner led the way for the Hubbers with an individual triple, earning firsts in the 800, 1,600 and pole vault. Tanner also ran in the winning 1,600 relay with Eric Szarowicz, Andrew Gallup and Justin Tanner.
“Christian had a remarkable night considering the weather conditions,” Smethport coach Rick Woodring said. “I thought he did especially well in the pole vault with how cold it was getting.”
Gallup (200), Darion Gregory (3,200), Brandon Peterson (high jump), and Brayden Southard (discus) were the other Hubbers to earn individual top marks, while Smethport also won the 3,200 relay.
“Gregory ran very strong for us tonight,” Woodring said. “He ran four events that basically added up to four miles.”
“Overall I thought our depth was very good and strong,” he added.
Noah Vokes earned a double for the Cardinals, winning both the long jump and the triple jump. Other firsts for DuBois CC came in the 100 (R. Little), 400 (I. Peck), and javelin (Brian Elies).
Eisenhower took first place in the 400 relay, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and shot put.
Smethport will travel to Port Allegany on Tuesday.

Marissa Jack claimed Smethport’s only first-place showing in a wet and cold girls track and field double-dual meet with Eisenhower and DuBois Central Catholic.
Jack tossed the discus 103-10 for the win.
“She had a great throw,” Smethport coach Corey Cochran said, adding the sophomore is about four feet away from setting the school record.
Terry Lee Talasky swept the sprints and helped the Eisenhower 4×4 relay team to a win in 4:41. DuBois Central Catholic’s Haley Frey swept the jumps.
