SMETHPORT — One criminal case against a Bradford man has been dropped, while a second case is still pending.
Edmond D. Thornton, 58, is no longer facing allegations that he failed to register with state police or verify address/be photographed as a sex offender, court records stated. However, a second, unrelated case in which he is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol is still pending.
Thornton was prepared to enter a guilty plea in the DUI case on Thursday in McKean County Court, but President Judge John Pavlock wondered if a item in the plea agreement was legal. Pavlock rescheduled Thornton’s court appearance to April 27.
Thornton, who had been incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail on the failure to register case, was released Thursday on $1,000 bail.
Attorney Christopher Martini was representing him on both cases.
