SMETHPORT — A Bradford woman who was accused of bringing a gun into Walmart, prompting multiple police agencies to respond, pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court.
Debra S. Faucher, 58, entered the plea to one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person.
According to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, on Nov. 16, Faucher entered the stock area of the Walmart in Foster Brook while holding a gun.
“At one point, the gun negligently but accidentally” touched a woman, which put people at the scene in fear.
Court records filed at the time Faucher was first arrested indicated that she was suffering from mental issues at the time of the event, and she came into the store asking for staff to call 911 because she believed she was being followed.
The store was evacuated, and police officers responded from Foster Township, Bradford Township, Bradford City and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Family members of hers were also brought in. She allegedly did not put down the gun the first time an officer asked her to, but police and family were able to convince her to put the gun on the ground and out of reach within a few minutes.
No one was injured in the incident.
She was transported from the scene to Bradford Regional Medical Center for mental health treatment. She is free, having posted 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
She will be sentenced April 27.
Attorney Greg Henry is representing her.
