ST. MARYS — The Bradford boys cruised to a 137-13 victory over St. Marys thanks to a great showing headlined by Mitch Vleminckx. Vleminckx earned a quadruple, taking first in the 100, 200, 400, and long jump, with his jump of 21 feet 11 and a half inches ranking as the second best in school history.
“Mitch had a real good day,” coach Tom Tessena said. “That is a job well done.”
Jaron Ambrose took first place in both the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, as well as running in the winning 1,600 relay with Nate Blauser, Mike Bosworth, and Tyler Kraft. Bradford’s other first-place finishes came from Billy Naglik (800), Logan Caruso (1,600), Cade Hayden (3,200), Ryan Whittemore (javelin), Jeremiah Fitton (pole vault), Donny Pattison (high jump), and Andy Pantuso (triple jump).
Tom Bojalad earned the only two firsts for the Dutch, winning the shot put and discus.
“Overall I thought we did ok,” Tessena said. “The weather helped and we switched guys around a bit.”
The Owls will appear at the Harbor Creek Invitational on Saturday.
