SMETHPORT — Justin Tanner won three individual events and ran a leg on Smethport’s winning 1600 relay team to lead the Hubbers to a sweep of their season-opening track and field double dual meet with Kane and Northern Potter on Tuesday.
The Hubbers rolled other the Panthers 131.5 to 9.5 and beat the Wolves 91-58.

“Justin Tanner had a terrific day to open the season, along with Andrew Gallup, Christian Tanner and Darion Gregory,” said Rick Woodring, Smethport coach. “For the weather conditions and the first meet of the year, I was quite happy with some of the times our kids had, not just with the firsts, but the seconds and thirds.”
Leading Kane was Austin Labesky who won all three throwing events (shot, discus, javelin) for a triple.
Smethport (2-0) returns to action on Thursday hosting Eisenhower and DuBois Central Catholic.
