PORT ALLEGANY — S.W. Smith Memorial Library in Port Allegany will celebrate National Library Week from April 10-15 with several events.
All week the library will hold Food for Fine$, in which each food pantry item donated will help to pay down the donor’s library fine or the fine of a minor child. All donations will go to local food pantries. Also being held will be Chalk the Walk, in which people will be invited to decorate library sidewalks with happy words, phrases and art about the library or favorite reads.

• April 10: 7 p.m. library director Mary Grace Collier-Kisler will speak at Port Allegany Women’s Club
• April 11: Nominate a Stellar Library Worker for National Library Workers Day at http://ala-apa.org/nlwd/
• April 11: D.E.A.R. Day (Drop Everything And Read) event for Grades K-6, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Elementary students can participate in a Beverly Cleary-inspired Reading Flash Mob and craft. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
• April 12: Last day of Winter Story Hour for registered participants only, 10 to 11 a.m.
• April 13: Color Your Stress Away Day. Adults and children are invited to color at the library with mellow music and snacks, 10:30 a.m. to 7p.m.
• April 13: Book Tasting for Teens in Grades 7-12, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Teens will sample books and discuss if each book is one they would read. Snacks provided. Seating is limited. Reserve attendance by April 6 by calling 642-9210.
• April 14: Afternoon movie at the library will be “Ramona and Beezus” (rated G), 1 to 3 p.m. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Seating is limited to 20, so reserve attendance by April 13 by calling 642-9210.
