SMETHPORT — A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail, charged after an alleged drunken driving crash near Bordell Crossroads which he fled from on foot — leading to three fire departments called out to search for him.
Randal Michael Komidar, 47, of 46 Bates Road, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, several traffic summary offenses, and false reports, a summary.
According to court records, at 2:30 p.m. Friday, a car driven by Komidar crashed along Route 46 near Bordell Crossroads. When state police arrived on the scene, the car was off the road and no driver was in the area. A Smethport Borough police officer on the scene said the driver had fled into the woods on foot.
Shortly thereafter, the Rew Fire Department was called to assemble at the station for a search detail. Hilltop Fire Department and Smethport Fire Department were called as well, according to emergency radio.
At 5:15 p.m., Komidar walked out of the woods and up to the crash scene, wearing no shoes and having a scratch on his face, court records read. The state trooper noted Komidar matched the description of the driver that he had been given.
The trooper noted that Komidar appeared intoxicated, and placed him under arrest. He was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for blood alcohol testing, court records read.
Komidar was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
