LIMESTONE, N.Y. — Area police are searching for Scott A. Wolcott, 50, of Limestone, who was reported missing last Saturday afternoon.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the probe for Wolcott’s whereabouts. He reportedly lived alone at 5592 Leonard Run Road, where he was last seen at about 3 a.m. March 16, authorities said.
“We’re just trying to backtrack his activity from the last time he was seen, trying to see who his associates were, where he was going, where he’d been,” said Capt. Bob Yehl of the sheriff’s office, which is heading the investigation.
Yehl said Wolcott worked at Zippo Manufacturing Co. of Bradford, Pa., and was a “no-call, no-show” last week.
It’s unclear from talking to known associates if Wolcott leaving the area unannounced for unknown lengths of time is unusual, the sheriff’s captain added.
“It depends on who you talk to. It was unusual for him not to show up for work,” Yehl said. “There aren’t too many other details to tell. It doesn’t really appear that there was anything suspicious, but we don’t know that for sure. So I guess we can’t rule that out completely.”
Police describe Wolcott as white, approximately 6-foot-2-inches tall and about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a black leather jacket. Authorities urge anyone with information on his location or other details pertinent to the case to call the sheriff’s office dispatch at 938-9191.
“Any tip would certainly be helpful,” Yehl said.
News of Wolcott’s disappearance has been circulating on social media.
