A Rixford couple is in McKean County Jail, charged for the alleged rape of a child in their care about a decade ago.
William J. Tipton, 50, and Julie Ann Tipton, 35, both of 11 Maple St., were both arraigned by District Judge Rich Luther Wednesday.
According to court records, in February, a teenage male was interviewed by Foster Township Police. He reported that when he was a child of about 6, William Tipton made him watch pornography on the television in the living room of Tipton’s home in Foster Township. Tipton then “acted out the scene with the juvenile male,” court records read.
The teen told police that he recalled several occasions on which William Tipton made him watch him have sex with Julie Tipton. On at least one occasion, William Tipton made the young boy have sexual intercourse with Julie Tipton, court records read.
Police contacted Julie Tipton to inform her of the allegations, and she claimed it never happened, saying William Tipton had been in prison when the boy was 6. Police told her the child had estimated his age at the time of the alleged rape, at which time she “went silent on the phone,” court records read.
William Tipton is charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault of a child, all first-degree felonies; and indecent assault and corruption of minors, both first-degree misdemeanors.
He was arraigned via video conference, as he was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge. Bail in this case was set at $150,000. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court March 30.
Julie Tipton is charged with rape of a child, a first-degree felony; incest of a minor, a second-degree felony; and indecent assault and corruption of minors, first-degree misdemeanors. She was sent to jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court March 30.
