RIDGWAY –– When the District 9 League announced its all-stars Monday, both league champions were unsurprisingly well-represented.
Elk Catholic (10-0 in D-9 play) on the boys side and Punxsutawney (10-0) for the girls — were well-represented each had three players tabbed all-league, with the Crusaders adding another player earning honorable mention.
Nate DaCanal, Gabe Kraus and Dan Stauffer all represented the Crusaders on the all-star team, while Ryan Newton earned an honorable mention selection.
Leah Miller, Kate Horner and Morgan Vanleer all earned nods from the Lady Chucks.
Tyler Gigliotti and Bri Wells of Bradford made their respective teams, with Gigliotti earning his nod in only his freshman season. Wells went over 1,000-career points this season for the Lady Owls.
St. Marys’ Jeff Wehler was the top-vote getter on the boys side, while Miller appeared on the most ballots for the girls.
The other selections on the boys side were Bryan Dworek (Brookville), Nick LaBrasca (DuBois), Brandon Matthews and Devin Kelly (Punxsutawney), and Nathan Schneider and honorable mention Matt Marconi (St. Marys).
The girls team was rounded out by Brooke Shattenberg and honorable mention Laken Hergert (Brookville), Ashley Hallowell and Chelsea DeSalve (DuBois), Reilly Herzing and Cassidy Cunningham (Elk Catholic), and Rachelle Armanini and honorable mention Caitlyn Bankovich (St. Marys).
