ERIE — The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania has been named one of America’s best managed nonprofit organizations for the 10th consecutive year, according to
Charity Navigator.
Only 1 percent of the charities that are rated have received at least 10 consecutive four-star evaluations, says Michael Thatcher, Charity Navigator’s president and CEO.
“This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator sets Second Harvest Food Bank … apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness,” Thatcher wrote in a letter to the charity.
Karen Seggi, executive director of Second Harvest, expressed appreciation for the award, saying, “This designation is representative of our efforts at Second Harvest to ensure that every donation is efficiently put toward our mission of feeding those in need.”
Second Harvest scored 95.78 on Charity Navigator’s rating system, which examines financial health as well as accountability and transparency.
