KANE — There is excitement in the air at the Kane Area High School as students in grades 2 through 12 put the finishing touches on the musical production of “The Wizard of Oz,” to be performed at the Kane Area High School Auditorium on March 30 through April 1.
Showtimes are at 7 p.m. each day, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. on April 1.
The musical is under the direction of Kane music teacher Matthew McClard, with Katelyn Reigel as the assistant director. McClard has previously directed “Guys and Dolls” and “Bye-Bye Birdie,” both providing well-needed diversion from the winter weather.
Audiences of all ages will enjoy the story of Dorothy’s adventures in the Land of Oz. The show features familiar musical numbers, fanciful sets designed by local volunteers and students, and a real dog playing Toto. The large cast of more than 90 students has been rehearsing to bring an evening or afternoon of entertainment to the community.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the following locations: Zanadu in Kane, Pepe’s Pizzeria in Kane, the Kane Elementary School office, the Kane High School office, the Kane Area School district office and Hair by Hollyin Mount Jewett.
Advanced sale tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children, students and senior citizens. At the door, tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, students and senior citizens.
