Facing a downturn of revenues from national advertising accounts, Bradford Publishing Co. has reduced five positions at the Olean Times Herald and The Bradford Era.
“We’re seeing negative economic effects from the national retail sector not unlike what is being seen at newspapers across the country,” said Jim Bonn, chief operating officer of Bradford Publishing, in announcing the staff reductions. “We still benefit greatly from the core support we receive from our advertisers and readers in our coverage areas.”
Bonn said staffing cuts “are never easy, but they are being made amidst an organizational realignment that ensures continued emphasis on local news and sports coverage that will continue to be delivered to the many communities we serve.”
In addition to the Times Herald and The Era, Bradford Publishing includes the weekly Salamanca Press, the Salamanca Pennysaver, Gowanda Press and The Moneysaver, which serves Allegany County and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania.
