PORTVILLE, N.Y. — The program Discovering Snowflakes will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 18 at the Portville Free Library at 1 N. Main St. in Portville.
It is sponsored by the Pfeiffer Nature Center.
It is said that everybody has a double out there in the world somewhere. But is this true for snowflakes? Snowflakes are created when ice crystals stick together and float to the ground from the sky. As each snowflake falls, it passes through a variety of temperatures and moisture levels. These differences in the air allow the snowflake to take shape. But how many shapes? Come learn the answer as naturalist Barb Busack shares her knowledge of these beautiful ice forms. A craft will follow the presentation.
The program will be free for members; $5 for non-members; and free for children age 13 and under. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Those interested in attending must register by 4 p.m. March 16. Sign up on the Programs Calendar on the Pfeiffer Nature Center website atwww.pfeiffernaturecenter.org or contact the office at 716-933-0187.
