The original “Seven Freedoms” now have multiple interpretations from those of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The dereliction of Congressional responsibilities has compounded the 12 million undocumented (fancy for illegal) immigrants mess in trying to untangle the problem.
I’m surprised by the mix of citizens who fail to consider the huge costs associated with both problem and solutions. They suggest the country is loaded with money, and it is. The problem is the collateral for this money is backed by debt (Treasury notes) — but that is paper value only, no gold. Our government’s revenue is primarily from taxes — no sport franchise, no medical “weed,” etc.
We have a certain few actors who display disdain for this country. They lack wisdom and maturity. The USA is generally first to aid another country for eruptions, hurricanes, tsunamis, floods, contagious diseases, etc. We seem to have a great appeal that 12 million want to share our benefits.
The Statue of Liberty’s welcome message pleads for the “tired,” the “poor,” the “huddled masses” who yearn to be free. Free is very important, but not so available in other countries.
We have it! Let’s use it appropriately and protect it!
