CLEARFIELD — Bradford High’s Jared Schwab won a pair of District 9 Class AA swimming titles Saturday.
Schwab won the 50 free in a team record time of 21.40, eclipsing the previous team record of 21.64 set in 2008 by Alex Goodman.
In addition, Schwab won the 100 back in a time of 53.85.
“Jared has worked hard all season to prepare for this,” Bradford coach Chelsea Schwab said. “His 50 free time beat his previous personal best (21.95). His backstroke was a great time.”
Schwab will compete in the PIAA meet March 15-16 and Bucknell University.
Clearfield won the boys team title followed by DuBois, St. Marys, Bradford and Brookville.
In the girls’ meet, DuBois took the team title followed by Clearfield, St. Marys, Bradford and Brookville.
“We had time drops we have never seen before,” Bradford coach Chelsea Schwab said of Bradford’s performance. “We were taking five or 10 seconds off the best times of the year.
“We swam above and beyond our expectations. There was not one swimmer who didn’t drop time.”
Schwab praised the performances of Emma Webster, Aliya Webster and Cara Webster.
“All three of them had a strong showing,” Schwab noted. “For Aliya and Emma that was their first taste of high school competition.
“For Lexie Reitler, it was great to see her go out with a medal (3rd place 200 medley relay).
