SMETHPORT — A Kane man is in McKean County Jail for the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old female.

Robert Eugene Hammond, 60, of 500 Biddle St., is charged with aggravated indecent assault without consent, and three counts of corruption of minors, all third-degree felonies; and indecent assault without consent, two second-degree misdemeanors.

Court records said on Jan. 22, Kane Borough Police responded to a home for a report of a possible assault. The juvenile female told the police officer that she and two friends were at Hammond’s residence watching television when Hammond, a registered sex offender, touched her inappropriately and kissed her in front of her two friends, also minors.

He touched her under her clothing, and exposed her genitals to another person, court records alleged.

Hammond was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for Central Court on March 9.
