SMETHPORT — A Hazel Hurst man is in McKean County Jail, charged with being in possession of a gun that he allegedly knew had been stolen.
Zachery Davis, 21, of 415 Main St., is charged with receiving stolen property, a second-degree felony.
Court records said that last June, state police were contacted by a Hazel Hurst man who told them he had loaned Davis money, and was given a pistol as collateral. When the man received the pistol, it was covered in dirt. Uncomfortable with the transaction, the man contacted state police. The gun had been stolen from another Hazel Hurst resident, police learned after a records check on the weapon, court records read.
Davis was arraigned Saturday before Magisterial District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
