A presentation called “Social Media — What Parents Need to Know” will take place at 7 p.m. March 1 in the large group instruction room at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School.
Information will be presented by Jonathan Ogden, the education and outreach specialist for the state Attorney General’s Office.
The presentation will give parents a foundational education on understanding the social media sites their children use and how to keep them safe while using them. Parents will learn how to navigate and learn how to enable the security features on the apps, along with recognizing the importance of knowing their children’s passwords.
Monitoring children’s behavior and interactions on the internet is very critical in today’s world. Children are being targeted by online predators and cyberbullying at an alarming rate. As parents can be one of the keys in preventing cyberbullying, it is important they know what their children are doing online.
