Members of all area fire departments are reminded that applications for April classes at the
Tri-County Fire School are due by March 1 to receive a free t-shirt.
Also, there are pre-class requirements for anyone taking the international trauma life support class (ITLS, or the old BTLS class). Participants will need to purchase a book and take an online test prior to the class.
All classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school on Forest Avenue, Smethport.
April classes include incident safety officer on April 1-2; Respiratory Protection II on April 1-2; advanced fire police on April 1-2; Hazmat ops refresher on April 1; and ITLS on March 30 and April 1-2.
Meanwhile, the deadline for registration of May classes is April 15.
The following classes will be held May 20-21: firefighting at shale gas emergencies, Pump Operations I, truck company operations for engine companies with live smoke, introduction to fire officership, responding to utility emergencies-electrical and responding to utility emergencies-gas.
Returning the applications on time lets the fire school directors know if there will be enough people taking each course and gives them time to plan the courses.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact Jack Fowler, Dan Burkhouse, Rookie Weidow or Mae Wolfe.
