A Bradford man has been jailed on allegations he smoked marijuana with a 16-year-old girl.
Stephan Paul Belt, 33, of 35 Roberts St., was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard Luther on charges of corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, court records stated.
Court records said, on Monday, a Bradford Township Police officer was traveling on Niles Hollow towards Songbird Road, when he saw a white Ford Escape pulled to the side of the road. The officer stopped to check on the vehicle, when he saw that the back seats were folded down and two people were lying in the back.
The officer went to talk to Belt. Belt opened the driver’s side rear door, and the officer could smell marijuana, court records stated.
Belt told police that the teen asked him to go smoke a bowl with her. She and Belt both told police she brought the marijuana with her when he picked her up, court records indicate.
Belt was committed to McKean County Jail in Smethport in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on March 2.
The Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law website indicates that Belt must register as a sex offender because he was convicted April 22, 2010, of a charge of statutory sexual assault.
He had pleaded guilty to allegations that he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in April and May 2009, a previous news article indicates.
