A Bradford couple has been arrested on allegations they stole numerous items from their landlord’s shed to sell.
Bradford City Police posted to social media earlier this week asking for help from the public to find Amber Lynn Harris, 20, and Shayne William Reed, 21, both of 65 Summer St., upper apartment. The pair was wanted on felony theft warrants.
Police reported Tuesday afternoon that the pair was in custody and offered their appreciation to everyone who provided tips. “This was an excellent example of the Bradford community working together with the police department to swiftly bring those persons involved to justice,” police wrote.
Harris and Reed were arraigned Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge David Engman and committed to McKean County Jail in Smethport in lieu of $10,000 bail. Harris has since been released on $10,000 unsecured bail because she is pregnant, court records indicated.
Court records said the couple broke a lock off a shed on Summer Street where the homeowner stored items for family members, then drilled new holes in the door in order to attach a new lock; they caused $100 in damage to the shed.
The pair is accused of taking 34 items worth a total of $2,672 including a Tony Stewart sign, three tree stands, speakers, four mountain pie makers, a ball peen hammer, three fishing poles, a propane slow cooker, a crock pot roaster, crutches, two Buffalo Bills Zippo lighters, a glass plate with a deer emblem, a carpet knee kicker, a lawn chair, Avon products, a five-room tent, three pairs of boots, a table saw, a scroll saw, a band saw and three weedeaters, according to court records.
The homeowner learned the pair was selling the items and found photographs of some items Harris had posted on Facebook in her efforts to get someone to buy them; also, at least two people have stepped forward to say they purchased items from her, court records stated.
Harris is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, both third-degree felonies; and criminal mischief, a summary charge; while Reed is charged with conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, both third-degree felonies; and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, a summary charge, according to court records.
Both are scheduled to appear in Central Court on Feb. 23.
