FOR ROBINS: It’s great to put up a bird feeder to be able to watch the feathered rascals out your window, but robins aren’t interested in bird seed.
One reader called to suggest that people put peanut butter out to attract robins.
We’ve had a lot of robin sightings lately — and large groups of them, too — so it might be a good time to get them to visit.
TAKE YOUR NAME: Remember when former American Idol contestant Ayla Brown came to town last month? Well, she just released a new single for Valentine’s Day.
“‘Take Your Name’ is an upbeat, catchy song about falling in love, and wanting to take your partner’s last name,” according to Ayla. “I wrote it by myself on a plane, and it’s been one of my favorite songs I’ve ever ever written by myself.”
Many of you will recall she opened for Jason Michael Carroll on Jan. 27 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for a Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center (BCPAC) show, and she also gifted Bradford with a more intimate acoustic set Jan. 26 at Beefeaters’ Afterwords Club.

SWEETHEART SCAMS:Speaking of Valentine’s Day, Pennsylvania state police are warning users of internet dating and matchmaking sites of online “sweetheart scams.”
“Also referred to as a romance scam, the sweetheart scam is a common way for thieves to trick strangers into sending them large amounts of cash,” according to police. “The perpetrator typically preys on the loneliness of their target to quickly build trust and will then solicit money by saying they need to purchase a passport or plane ticket, to pay off medical bills for a family member, to buy a new computer, or something similar.”
Once the scammers, who often work in foreign countries, have taken the money, it’s next to impossible to get back.
Police offer these tips to avoid being a victim in the first place:
• Never wire money to someone you have not met in person.
• Take it slow.
• Talk to you family and friends.
• Do your research.
• Trust your instincts.
Anyone who believes they have been a victim to a sweetheart scam should report it to police.
