KANE — A South Carolina man has been jailed on allegations he threatened another man with a knife on Saturday afternoon in Crosby.
Kane-based state police said at 4 p.m. Saturday, Brad Harter Hitchings, 62, of Florence, S.C., threatened a 50-year-old Smethport man with a knife on Route 46 near the baseball fields in Crosby. Hitchings allegedly threw the knife over a guiderail before police arrived on scene, and police later found it and took it as evidence.
Police did not indicate a motive for the alleged threats.
Hitchings was arraigned Saturday before Magisterial District Judge David Engman on a charge of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was committed to McKean County Jail in Smethport in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
