OLEAN, N.Y. — Southern Tier Catholic School and Archbishop Walsh Academy in Olean have announced the students selected to participate in this year’s chorus event, while a middle and high school science fair will also be held.
Students from Bradford, Pa., are eligible to attend the school.
School officials said eight high school students have been selected to participate in this year’s Senior High All-County Chorus.
All the students participated in the Cattaraugus County Music Teachers Association Solo Fest held on Jan. 27. Walsh students scored high enough to make them eligible to participate in the All-County Chorus Music Festival to be held on March 10-11.
In addition to the eight high school students, Southern Tier Catholic School will send 10 students from 5th and 6th grade as well as three students for the Junior High Band, for a total of 21 students.
Meanwhile, on Feb. 15, Southern Tier Catholic School and Archbishop Walsh Academy will host their 2017 middle and high school science fair.
Students in grades 5 through 12 will submit their projects into the fair in the school gymnasium. Students will be asked to present their projects to the judges throughout the school day. This year’s judges are Aben Ramadhan, Dr. Pam Salzman, Francis De Lancey of Smethport, Pa., John Berne of Smethport, and Marty Meddock. The event will be open to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. Winners will be announced at the opening ceremonies starting at 6 p.m.
There will be a light refreshment reception provided by the Parent Teacher Association as well.
