SMETHPORT — Cub Scout summer camp sign-ups are under way for four sessions of resident camping at the Elk Lick Scout Reserve in Smethport this summer.
“Wizards and Dragons: Come Discover the Magic of Our Land” is the theme of this summer’s camping program, with three, four and five-day sessions scheduled for July 9-11, July 13-16, July 19-22, and July 23-27. A Cub Scout family weekend also is scheduled for July 29-30.
Program activities include aquatics in the newly refurbed swimming pool, BB guns and archery, field sports, handicraft and nature. Scouts sleep in tents and participate in campfires, camp-wide games, mealtime programs and vespers. Meals are served in a dining hall filled with Scout memorabilia, and a trading post is open daily.
Elk Lick Scout Reserve is a fully accredited camp through the Boy Scouts of America National Camp Accreditation Program, and is operated by the Allegheny Highlands Council, BSA. All counselors have New York state and Pennsylvania state clearances, and a health officer resides at camp during all sessions.
