LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. –– Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 14-year-old Conewango, N.Y., boy involved a logging accident on Friday.
The boy is a member of the Amish community, and his name is being withheld pending notification of family, deputies noted.
A 911 call reporting a logging accident came into the sheriff’s office at 8:55 a.m., and the Conewango Fire, Ellington Fire and Randolph EMS were dispatched to the scene. Sheriff’s deputies, New York State Forest Rangers and Cattaraugus County Emergency Services also responded to the scene, along with a trauma doctor with Emergency Services.
The boy was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene by Cattaraugus County Coroner Howie VanRensseIaer.
