ST. MARYS — A St. Marys man is facing numerous criminal charges after an alleged incident with police in the early morning hours on Sunday.
St. Marys City Police said at 2:59 a.m. Sunday, they were dispatched to 1036B Windfall Road for a report of a domestic disturbance. There, an altercation allegedly ensued between police and George Javelle Smith, 41.
Police did not specify what happened in the altercation, but the most serious charge Smith faces is disarming a law enforcement officer-without lawful authorization, a third-degree felony, court records stated.
Smith is also charged with one count of terroristic threats and two counts of simple assault, all first-degree misdemeanors; one count of simple assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, all second-degree misdemeanors; and two summary counts of harassment, according to court records.
He was incarcerated in Elk County Jail in Ridgway in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7.
