RIDGWAY — A Pittsburgh man has been convicted of heroin-related charges stemming from a 2015 drug bust in a Johnsonburg apartment.
On Thursday, following about two hours of deliberations a jury convicted Taru Farmer, 40, of Pittsburgh of five charges, Elk County District Attorney Shawn T. McMahon indicated in a press release.
Farmer was found guilty of the following charges: possession with the intent to deliver heroin, conspiracy to commit possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of a drug paraphernalia — a digital scale, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana, according to McMahon.
McMahon stated, “The incident giving rise to Farmer’s conviction occurred on September 4, 2015, at the Duffy Apartments in Johnsonburg where it was alleged that Farmer conspired with Danielle Antonuccio to sell heroin. A search was executed on the subject apartment of the investigation by the Johnsonburg Borough Police Department whereby 48 stamp bags of heroin with an approximate weight of 0.82 grams, marihuana approximately 2.82 grams and several items of drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale, were seized by law enforcement.”
A jury call date for the case against Antonuccio, 31, of Johnsonburg, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 6 and a jury selection date is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 13. She faces similar charges to Farmer, court records indicate.
As for Farmer, “Following the jury’s verdict Farmer’s bail was revoked by the Court with Farmer being remanded to the Elk County Prison,” McMahon stated. “A pre-sentence investigation, including a drug an alcohol evaluation and forensic mental health assessment, was ordered by the court.”
The trial was heard before President Judge Richard A. Masson in Elk County Court, with McMahon representing the commonwealth. Chief John Clopp of the Johnsonburg Borough Police Department filed the charges.
“Farmer shall be scheduled for sentencing upon completion of the pre-sentence investigation report,” McMahon said.
