Veterans of Foreign Wars Lt. John C Roche Post 212 and local musicians are sponsoring the fifth annual “Vet Jam” on Feb. 11 at the VFW Events Center on Barbour Street in Bradford.
Organizer Val Meacham said Vet Jam is an event that will benefit the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation (PVF), a non-profit organization geared to help Pennsylvania veterans and their families statewide that are in need.
“This event is all about backing the PVF,” she noted. And this year, it will feature new musical talent brought to the stage, as well as old favorites.
Doors to the event will open at noon, and music will begin at 1 p.m.
The event will include back-to-back music performances by local bands and talent that will be showcased all day, such as Counterfeit, Deth Rattle, Vapor, Dog Day Sunrise, The Unknown, Remedy, Marshmellow Overcoat, Inexpensive Winos with Dave Morris and Blacklist.
Between bands, there will be local acoustic sets, Meacham added. There will also be guitar lessons with Jim Ronan.
Sound will be provided by S&B Productions.
The event is open to the public with proper ID, and has a $5 donation at the door. There will be a cash bar, and the kitchen will be open with a select menu. Menu and prices will be posted the day of the event, organizers noted.
The event originated at VFW Post 212 approximately six years ago, the first of which was held in the bar area of the club. The event has been held in the VFW Events Center since the center was completed.
Meacham said previously this has been “a very successful event” over the years.
“We are hoping for another good turnout this year,” Meacham said. “It’s for a great cause, and local talent is always a good draw.”
There is parking for the event available at Stoney North Tire, and participants are encouraged to enter the Events Center from the Barbour Street side.
“Mark your calendars, bring friends and family and come enjoy the day — all while helping out the Pennsylvania Veterans Association,” organizers stated on the Vet Jam Facebook page. “If you haven’t experience Vet Jam, you’re in for a treat; and if you have celebrated with us before, come again and bring some new faces!”
Bradford local Robin Wilson also commented, “It’s a great time with good people and a wonderful cause.”
