JOHNSONBURG — A St. Marys man has been charged in district court after allegedly bringing a credit card knife into the Elk County Courthouse on Jan. 12.
Devin Joseph Eozzo, 22, of St. Marys, has been charged with a misdemeanor charge of possession of firearm or other dangerous weapon in a court facility.
An affidavit of probable cause outlining the charge was obtained from the office of Magisterial District Judge James L. Martin.
The affidavit indicates a security guard at the Elk County Courthouse in Ridgway reported that he had confiscated a credit card knife from a male. The security guard reported that he scanned Eozzo’s wallet with an X-ray machine at the courthouse and noticed the credit card knife.
Court documents said the security guard reported the male went into the probation department.
Deputies with the Elk County Sheriff’s Department investigated the incident and found Eozzo within the probation department and questioned him.
The affidavit indicates Eozzo stated that he had the knife for two years before the incident but never used it.
As a result of the investigation, Eozzo has been charged. He is scheduled to appear before Martin for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Feb. 15.
Online court documents do not list a defense attorney for Eozzo. The Commonwealth will be represented by the Elk County District Attorney’s Office.
