Charges related to the attempt by a Bradford man to purchase a firearm were bound to McKean County Court Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Dominic Cercone.
James A. Teeter, 49, appeared for a preliminary hearing on charges of making a materially false written statement during the sale of a firearm, a third-degree felony; and statement under penalty, a third-degree misdemeanor, court records stated.
Court records said Teeter went to Allegheny Arsenal in Bradford and tried to purchase a 12-gauge shotgun.
Teeter had been previously convicted of a misdemeanor charge that had a possible maximum sentence of more than one year; however, he indicated on paperwork that he did not have such a conviction, court records indicated.
He is free on unsecured bail, court documents said.
